With supporting infrastructure, technology, human and technical resources, and the experience of delivering ICT services to thousands of businesses and government entities, XL Axiata Business Solutions is ready to provide ICT service support to actualize a linked smart city and rural program.

Jakarta, 10 April 2022. PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) is ready to fully assist digitalization initiatives to accelerate the implementation of smart city programs and rural area connectivity through XL Axiata Business Solutions. This readiness includes resources, technology, and experience in implementing the implementation of similar programs in a number of regions in Indonesia.  XL Axiata is currently assisting Jakarta Smart City in the implementation of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies to deal with flood problems.

XL Axiata's Chief Enterprise and SME Officer, Feby Sallyanto stated, "National economic resilience will be realized through digitalization to establish smart cities and connected rural areas. As a result, digitization, which is becoming increasingly widespread in industry and government, will be able to bring direct benefits to the general public. An integrated ICT service is required as the main component of the construction of a connected smart city and rural area. XL Axiata Business Solutions is fully prepared to help the acceleration of Indonesia's digital transformation with its existing skills, resources, and experience."

According to Feby, there are at least three components to expanding ICT and implementing digitalization. First, economic resilience, which enables a stable and equal distribution of the digital ecosystem in order to enhance the national economy. Second, infrastructure development in the form of broad network development to create a smarter and more empowered society. Third, entrepreneurship stimulation, namely by attracting innovation and involvement of local business activists at the MSME level.

Feby added, XL Axiata Business Solutions is ready to provide ICT service support to realize a connected smart city and rural program, armed with complete supporting infrastructure, technology, human and technical resources, and experience providing ICT services to thousands of businesses and government institutions. XL Axiata Business Solutions is currently a partner in providing ICT services for more than 3,000 corporate and MSME customers engaged in more than 300 types of industries, including government organizations and public service providers.

Infrastructure resources owned by XL Axiata Business Solutions are in the form of data centers in strategic locations in the country with data security protection systems. XL Axiata now operates data centers in Pekanbaru, Bandung, and Surabaya, in addition to data centers in the Greater Jakarta area. These data centers have all received a number of certifications for data security, technical feasibility to support the digital ecosystem, and dependable network support.

In network infrastructure, XL Axiata Business Solutions is supported by the XL Axiata network which continues to be enhanced, including the expansion of fiber optic transmission access to support the growing use of big data. It will be implemented by expanding the intercity backbone network, which will include practically all of Indonesia's major islands. For the construction of undersea optical fiber, additional backbone lengths and key alliances have been established. In addition, the capacity of the backbone network and upstream internet has been increased and protected.

XL Axiata has also created a network between data centers and industrial locations, which is still tied to infrastructure. This infrastructure is multipath and ring. In addition, XL Axiata is also partnering with Google and Facebook in the intercontinental Sea Cable Communication System (SKKL) development project. The submarine cable network that connects Indonesia, Singapore and North America is multi-link capable.

Support flood management and smart city solutions with IoT technology

In terms of experience, XL Axiata Business Solutions has assisted a number of city/district governments in their efforts to digitalize their areas. Through the Jakarta Smart City program, XL Axiata Business Solutions is currently supporting the development of digital technologies in one of Indonesia's major cities to deal with flood issues. XL Axiata uses "IoT Flood Monitoring" in this project to monitor water levels at a number of crucial places that affect the risk of flooding. Real-time river sensors with monitoring systems, dependable connectivity, smart city dashboards, and big data and analytics are all advantages of this technology.

XL Axiata Business Solutions has also assisted a city in Sumatra in pioneering a smart city program. Smart lights for public street lighting have been successfully implemented using IoT technology in this city. Street lighting operations, such as turn-on and blackout timings, lamp brightness levels, and energy use, may all be done more efficiently and effectively with digitization. In addition, the "IoT Thermal Imaging" technology has been implemented to measure body temperature for those placed in offices. To prevent the transmission of dangerous diseases, this solution has been implemented in office buildings.
