Jakarta, December 13th, 2020. The popularity of the XL Future Leaders (XLFL) Program initiated by PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) continues to increase. This is indicated by the increasing number of registrants every year. Entering its ninth year, the number of registrants has exceeded 35 thousand students or the highest so far. After going through various stages of tough selection, only 160 best participants were selected to fill the entire capacity of XLFL 2020. They came from 52 campuses spread across various regions in Indonesia.

Group Head of Corporate Communication of XL Axiata, Tri Wahyuningsih said, "We are grateful that the public, significantly students, increasingly recognize the XLFL program. However, our ultimate goal is not just to become famous. Still, more than that, we hope that this program will produce young people with qualified leadership qualities, who will become leaders in various fields both on a national and global scale. will also actively advance Indonesia. "

President Director and CEO of XL Axiata, Dian Siswarini, inaugurated the ninth batch of new XL Future Leaders in the annual National Conference 2020 series on December 12, 2020. They are students in the second and third years or enter the third and fifth semesters, with majors—both from the exact sciences and social sciences. The 160 students are currently studying at 52 public and private universities, coming from 42 cities/regencies spread across 23 provinces.

Gender-wise, they consist of 107 women and 53 men. The participants came from various disciplines, both exact and social, because the XLFL program did not limit participants' respective universities' disciplinary side. The XLFL curriculum emphasizes the development of soft skills.

Unlike previous years, this year the selection of XLFL 9th batch students took place online due to the global pandemic. The participants participated in several selection stages, namely, administrative selection, online assessment, presentations, group discussions, and interviews.

"This year feels a little different because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but that doesn't stop us from continuing to provide training programs that have been set from the start according to the curriculum. And we see that this program has not experienced a setback even though the activities are only carried out online. This can be seen from the fact that XLFL students still make a significant contribution in their respective regions in terms of business activities, government or digital-based social projects, " said Tri Wahyuningsih.

The XL Future Leaders program is open to all majors because the curriculum taught prioritizes participant mastery of various soft skills based on communicating effectively, managing change, and innovation and entrepreneurship. The soft skills taught will equip the alumni to be able to, among others, adapt to the work environment and all activities in it. They will find it easy to work and communicate effectively, and to also think critically.

The curriculum, which has been implemented since the beginning, has been designed according to the next few years’ digital era's developments. Thus, it is hoped that what is taught will also remain relevant to be applied in a time when digitalization is increasingly affecting various sides of life. The ninth batch of XLFL new students must immediately familiarize themselves with the curriculum's rhythm for the next two years by participating in the "Lead Indonesia" event. This curriculum aims to bring out all good communication skills and critical thinking to solve all problems in groups given online.
