Jambi, 9 July 2022. PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) continues to improve the quality of its 4G network in Jambi and North Sumatra provinces in line with the continued increase in traffic of data and internet use in both provinces. In addition, XL Axiata is also strengthening its network in the Lake Toba area, North Sumatra, to support the implementation of the Women 20 (W20) Summit world event which will take place there, in mid-July 2022. In the last two years, XL Axiata has added BTS with a total of 63 4G BTS throughout Jambi and 30 4G BTS in Lake Toba. Desy added that in improving the quality of data networks in Jambi Province and Lake Toba Region, North Sumatra, XL Axiata continues to add BTS capacity and build new BTS, expand fiberization, and optimize network. The network expansion carried out in Jambi Province has succeeded in providing 4G services up to 1,068 villages and 113 districts, in all regencies/cities. In Jambi Province there are around 440 thousand customers.
Meanwhile, in the area around Lake Toba, XL Axiata has reached 489 villages and 35 districts, which are located in Simalungun Regency, Toba Samosir Regency, North Tapanuli Regency, Humbang Hasunduta Regency, Dairi Regency, Karo Regency and Samosir Regency.
Overall, the current XL Axiata network is spread across 34 provinces. Some of the networks have penetrated and served people in remote areas and are located on national borders. A total of more than 133 thousand BTS, of which 83 thousand 4G BTS, and a fiber optic network of more than 113,000 kilometers, support the strength of XL Axiata's network, to serve around 57 million customers in various regions in Indonesia.
