XL Axiata's support for these world events is also in line with efforts to strengthen infrastructure and services in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), which is one of the winning areas, where XL Axiata's market share is the largest. XL Axiata also continues to strengthen the quality of data networks in NTB, especially Lombok and Sumbawa, where currently XL Axiata's 4G network has reached 1130 villages in 114 districts throughout NTB, with a total of more than 5,800 BTS, including more than 3,300 4G BTS.

Mataram, 22 June 2023. PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) ensures that its 4G network is in prime condition and ready to support the 2023 motocross world event in two locations in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). The two locations are Samota Circuit, Sumbawa Regency, 23-25 June 2023, and then Selaparang Circuit, Mataram City, 1-2 July 2023. XL Axiata's support for this extreme motorbike racing event also supports the government's hard work in building the tourism industry, especially in NTB.

Head of Network Operations of XL Axiata Region East, Mochamad Irwan Harahap, said, "XL Axiata's support for this world event is also in line with our efforts to strengthen infrastructure and services in NTB which is one of the winning areas, where XL Axiata's market share is the largest. We also continue to strengthen the quality of data networks in NTB, especially Lombok and Sumbawa, where currently XL Axiata's 4G network has reached 1130 villages in 114 districts throughout NTB, with a total of more than 5,800 BTS, including more than 3,300 4G BTS."

According to Irwan, the Samota and Selaparang areas, which are the locations of the motocross race, are already covered by XL Axiata's 4G network. The potential for traffic surges in these two areas is very likely to occur during the Motocross world racing events, considering that traffic surges occurred during the same event last year in Samota.

In the area around the Samota Circuit, at least 2 4G BTS have been prepared to cover most areas, including the circuit and surrounding tourist areas. XL Axiata also specifically places Mobile BTS not far from the Samota Circuit to anticipate traffic surges during the world racing event. Meanwhile, at Selaparang Circuit, which is located in the centre of Mataram City, there are around 12 4G BTS.

4G network quality improvement is not only limited to Samota and Selaparang. For the Sumbawa area, XL Axiata also expanded its 4G network to all corners of Sumbawa. Currently, XL Axiata's 4G network has reached 532 villages in 61 districts and 5 regencies/cities in Sumbawa. In total, there are more than 1,300 BTS throughout Sumbawa, with more than 800 of them 4G BTS. The number of 4G BTS will continue to increase considering that XL Axiata is still expanding in all regencies in Sumbawa.

In addition to the expansion and addition of BTS, XL Axiata also continues to add 4G network capacity both in terms of radio and transmission, as well as through fibreisation. Now most BTS in Sumbawa have been fibreised and will continue to increase. Meanwhile, since the beginning of 2022 until now around 360 BTS have been upgraded. Over the past year, XL Axiata's data traffic in Sumbawa has continued to increase by around 31%, with the highest traffic increase in Bima Regency.

As for the area in Lombok, XL Axiata's 4G network has been available to serve customers in 598 villages, 53 districts and 5 regencies/cities in Lombok.  In total there are more than 4,000 BTS throughout Lombok, with around 2,300 of them 4G BTS. The number of 4G BTS will continue to increase considering that XL Axiata is still expanding in all regencies in Lombok. Now most of the BTS in Lombok have been fibreised and will continue to increase. Meanwhile, since the beginning of 2022 until now around 800 BTS have been upgraded. Over the past year, XL Axiata's data traffic in Lombok has continued to increase by around 13%, with the highest traffic increase in North Lombok Regency.
