Serang, 24 December 2022. Ahead of the long Christmas and New Year (Nataru) holidays, PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) has prepared a 4G network to anticipate traffic spikes in Banten Province. Every year, the people of Banten take advantage of the long Nataru holiday by traveling to various areas in the province. Strengthening the data network is XL Axiata's effort to ensure maximum customer service during the long holiday season. In Banten Province, XL Axiata's 4G network currently has reached at least 1,535 villages and 155 districts in 8 regencies/cities.

Group Head of XL Axiata Region of Jabodetabek, Rd. Sofia Purbayanti, said, "Basically, the network strengthening that XL Axiata is doing is not just to anticipate traffic spikes during the long Christmas and New Year holidays, but we will indeed continuously strengthen the network to all service areas in Banten in line with the increase in telecommunication and data traffic Network strengthening carried out in the form of increasing capacity and fiberization. In Banten Province, the XL Axiata network infrastructure is currently supported by more than 9,000 BTS, including more than 5,600 4G BTS. In anticipating the traffic increase during the long holiday of Nataru, XL Axiata has increased its network capacity to two times larger than the normal days. In addition, XL Axiata has also prepared no less than 14 units of mobile BTS (MBTS) at various points in locations that require signal quality strengthening support, especially in areas that are the center of crowds such as airports, ports and tourist attractions.

XL Axiata also prepares anticipation if at any time an unexpected accident occurs, such as floods, earthquakes, and so on which are catastrophic that have the potential to cause a cut off of the electricity supply to the BTS. For this reason, our team in the field will be on standby 24 hours during this holiday period, in addition, there is also a team that continues to monitor network conditions in all XL Axiata service areas through the XL Axiata service quality monitoring center - Customer Experience and Service Operation Center (CE&SOC) located at the head office in Jakarta.

According to Sofia, XL Axiata predicts that the increase in data traffic during Nataru in Banten will reach around 2-3 times compared to the average traffic during normal days. Customers will use a lot of various data services, especially social media to share content. Customers are also predicted to access more streaming services, whether video, music or games, which require large capacity.

In terms of location, the highest increase in traffic is predicted to come from the Greater Tangerang area. Apart from being the largest city, Tangerang also has the most customers in Banten, which is around 2.6 million customers. Services in the Tangerang area are supported by more than 900 4G BTS in Tangerang City, more than 1,300 4G BTS in Tangerang Regency, and also more than 900 4G BTS in South Tangerang City. The next area with the highest traffic so far is Serang City as the provincial capital, as well as the administrative center of the Banten Province government, including Cilegon City as a supporting city that has a ferry port connecting the islands of Java and Sumatra.

XL Axiata also pays attention to popular tourist areas in Banten, which are usually crowded with people. Some of them are Tanjung Lesung, Anyer Beach and Teluk Carita Beach. In addition, network strengthening was also carried out in urban centers, the Tangerang - Merak toll road, the Tangerang - Airport toll road, the new Serbaraja (Serpong-Balaraja) toll road, Merak - Bakauheni Port, and Soekarno Hatta Airport.
