4 Days After Cianjur Earthquake XL Axiata Focuses on Restoring Network and Distributing Aid to the Community

Cianjur, 25 November 2022. Four days after the 5.6 SR earthquake in Cianjur, West Java, there are still several aftershocks that disrupt PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) networks and services at several points due to power outages from PLN. XL Axiata continues to accelerate the recovery of telecommunications and data networks in the affected areas. At the same time, the distribution of emergency response assistance to some evacuation posts in Cianjur has been carried out in stages.

 

Acting Group Head of the Central Region of XL Axiata, Arif Farhan Budiyanto, said, "Several aftershocks that still occur in Cianjur 4 days after the 5.6 SR earthquake last Monday, still have an impact on the XL Axiata network at some points due to power outages. However, we ensure that we continue to accelerate network recovery efforts as soon as possible so that the smooth communication of the community and officers who carry out evacuation and assistance can be well served. We also strive to provide support and assistance to the victims in several locations, in various forms such as free public telephone services, basic necessities, donations, and many more".

 

On the fourth day after the Cianjur earthquake, XL Axiata has distributed various emergency response assistance, consisting of:

 

  • Free Phone Service for Earthquake Victims

 

XL Axiata provides free call and SMS services. Residents who are also XL, AXIS, and XL Prioritas customers can call and send SMS to fellow XL Axiata user numbers. Meanwhile, to call and send SMS to other operator numbers, customers can get 10 minutes of free calls and 10 SMS. In addition, customers also still get a data quota of 500 MB for 4 days by accessing *505#. This service initiative has been open since November 21-24, 2022, and applies in disaster locations, namely from Cianjur to Sukabumi, West Java.

 

  • Distribution of Basic Needs

 

XL Axiata, through the XL Axiata PEDULI program, collaborates with BenihBaik.com in directly distributing emergency response assistance to several evacuation points spread across Cianjur, West Java. This distribution takes place in stages. The assistance distributed is tailored to the emergency needs of the victims such as mineral water, ready-to-eat snacks, blankets, and baby diapers. This distribution also collaborates with the local Regional Agency for Disaster Management (BPBD).

 

  • Free Call Post

 

Through the XL Axiata PEDULI program, XL Axiata has also provided free call posts for people affected by the Cianjur earthquake. One of the posts is at Sayang Hospital, located on Jl. Rumah Sakit No. 1, Bojongherang Village, Cianjur, West Java. Meanwhile, other posts open on a mobile basis at several evacuation posts scattered in Cianjur.

 

In all of these posts, XL Axiata also provides free XL starter packs for people in need. This starter pack is equipped with free calls for the community to utilize.

 

  • Digital Donation

 

To facilitate all customers, XL Axiata opens a Credit Donation channel. To be able to donate credit, XL and AXIS prepaid and XL Prioritas customers simply send an SMS to 6116 with the format Donasi <space> XLPEDULIBENCANA <space> nominal for XL and XL Prioritas customers, and Donasi <space> AXISPEDULIBENCANA <space> nominal for AXIS customers. In addition to SMS, customers can also donate via *123#6116# select XLBerbagi_PEDULIBENCANA, with a nominal ranging from IDR 1,000 to IDR 200,000. All donations from customers will be distributed to help victims affected by the Cianjur Earthquake.

 

  • Employee Donation

 

From the internal of XL Axiata, the management also swiftly visited the disaster site to review and ensure the condition of affected employees throughout Cianjur. Numerous assistance in the form of basic daily needs and financial compensation was distributed directly by XL Axiata's Group Head of People Services & Facility Management, Ryyld Ipbtas Yusri, to employees and their families.

 

Currently, the company has also opened a donation channel, specifically for employees who want to participate in easing the burden of disaster victims. The results of these employee donations will later be collected to be donated in basic necessities for affected residents.

 

In addition, there were also donations from XL Axiata employees through XL Axiata Ta'lim Council (MTXL). The distribution of aid was carried out in Tegallega Village, Limbangansari Village, Warung Kondang District, Cianjur, West Java, where there were fatalities, dozens of houses and public facilities that are severely damaged, as well as residents who are suffering injuries and having to evacuate. The assistance was the result of the collection of zakat and alms funds of XL Axiata employees to be distributed to victims of the Cianjur Earthquake, including affected employees.

 

 

Fast Service of XL Center

 

XL Axiata also ensures that the customer service center, XL Center, has been reopened and operating as usual since Wednesday (23/11). All service officers are ready to serve the needs of replacing lost or damaged cards, topping up credit, and paying bills. XL Center Cianjur, located on Jl. Ir. Haji Djuanda No. 38, Panembong, Mekarsari, Cianjur Regency, West Java, operates from 10:00 AM to 02:00 PM. During the emergency response period, card replacement services can be done for free at the XL Center.


Meanwhile, for customers who are unable to come directly to the XL Center, online services are available for card replacement or activation needs via www.xl.co.id/xlcenter.
 
Until now, the entire XL Axiata team has continued to be on standby throughout the emergency response period until December 20, 2022. To support and serve the smooth communication needs of the community, XL Axiata has more than 560 BTS spread across Cianjur, consisting of 280 4G BTS and more than 270 2G BTS. Meanwhile, in Sukabumi, there are more than 1,200 BTS, with almost 800 of them being 4G BTS. Across West Java Province, XL Axiata has more than 27,000 BTS, including more than 17,000 4G BTS.

  • Infrastructure & Network
