XL Axiata Committed to Support Digitalization Program by Providing Laptops to East Java and South Sulawesi Islamic Boarding School

Surabaya, 20 April 2022. Management of PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) again held donation dozens of laptops to be distributed to Islamic boarding schools in East Java and South Sulawesi. The donation was conducted as part of the Digital Nusantara Village Program series to encourage digitalization, including increasing digital literacy, among rural communities. . The selected Islamic boarding school as the recipient of the donation is expected to become a pioneer for digitalization and can improve the quality of human resources, especially in the Islamic Boarding School education sector. In addition, XL Axiata also conduct social actions to coincide with the Holy Month of Ramadan by distributing dozens of basic food packages to the Islamic Boarding School. Director & Chief Commercial Officer XL Axiata, David Arcelus Oses and Group Head XL Axiata Regional East, Dodik Ariyanto handed over the laptop donation in Surabaya, Wednesday (20/4).

 

XL Axiata Regional East Group Head, Dodik Ariyanto said, “XL Axiata's 4G data network infrastructure continues to expand throughout Indonesia, with some of it reaching rural areas. Along with this, we want to be able to help encourage rural populations to become more digitally literate, as well as assist digitalization among Islamic boarding schools. Currently, XL Axiata is targeting Islamic boarding schools to accept programs to increase digital literacy so that they can become drivers of the digital economy in rural areas.”

 

Islamic boarding schools and the society, according to Dodik, must adapt to the growing digitalization of different spheres, including the economic and social sectors, as well as public services. Rural areas, among others, will benefit from increased digital literacy since they will be able to use it to increase productivity as well as access to public services, such as education, health, social services. As part of XL Axiata's commitment to preparing rural areas for the digital era, laptops and XL Axiata internet access facilities were delivered to a variety of rural communities.

 

Since 2007, KH. Ahmad Hafidz Ayatullah M. HI al-Hafidz has overseen the establishment of the Islamic Boarding School. It's in Pademonegoro, Sukodono District, Sidoarjo Regency, East Java, on Jalan Pademonegoro, Negoro Hamlet RT 13 RW 04, Pademonegoro, Sukodono District, Sidoarjo Regency, East Java. The AT-TAUHID Madrasatul Qur'an Foundation manages this Islamic residential school, which has at least 455 pupils enrolled. One of the village community empowerment programs carried out at this pesantren is to build characters who memorize the Qur'an, understand the meaning of its contents, and implement it in daily life.

 

In addition, An-Nahdlah Makassar, an Islamic boarding school, also got laptop donations. The Islamic Boarding School, which has been established since 1986, is located on Jalan Tinumbu, Layang Village, Bontoala District, Makassar City, South Sulawesi. The Annahdlah Foundation manages this Islamic boarding school, which has at least 980 pupils enrolled. One of the village community empowerment programs carried out at this pesantren is moderate and humanist religious development through the Majelis Taklim, an Islamic forum. In addition, increasing literacy of religious moderation for the people of Makassar, empowering the pesantren community through the economic development of pesantren as well as becoming a center for the study of classical books (turats) and preaching Islam Rahmatan Lil Alamin through social media.

 

XL Axiata also distributes routers and free internet connection of 20GB per month for a year to recipients of donations in addition to laptops. They will also be given advanced training in a variety of digital skills, such as how to use social media for product promotion, photography, and creating effective digital content. XL Axiata partnered with Benihbaik.com to distribute this donation last year.

 

XL Axiata has also donated more than 50 laptop computers to dozens of Islamic boarding schools across the country, including in Central Java, West Java, East Java, North Sumatra, Gorontalo, and East Nusa Tenggara. After Ramadan, Xl Axiata will continue widen the laptop donations to another Islamic boarding schools throughout Sumatera, Jawa, Kalimantan, Nusa Tenggara, Sulawesi and many more, as part of program of Digitilizing Indonesia Nusantara Program.

 

The Nusantara Sea application has been implemented for fishing villages in various provinces as part of XL Axiata's digital literacy enhancement program for rural areas. Moreover, numerous trainings on the use of digital technology have been conducted through the Sisternet initiative to boost the productivity of rural communities at USO network locations and fishing villages. Women in charge of MSMEs are also taught digital literacy. Meanwhile, XL Axiata's Quota Donation Movement gives internet and data connection to rural communities in need of assistance to boost productivity to support digitalization program.

To coincide with XL Axiata's Safari Ramadan activities by the management and employees of XL Axiata, 500 food packages were provided to Islamic boarding schools in numerous Indonesian cities, including 65 packages distributed in Surabaya and 60 packages distributed in Makassar.
