XL Axiata's employees and management are committed to continuously increasing their contribution to the community as a form of care through sustainable CSR programs. Now, XL Axiata proves its commitment, building a clean water facility and a mosque in two locations in South Sulawesi.

Makassar, 19 September 2023. The concern of the management and employees of PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) to help overcome social problems in the service area continues. This time in South Sulawesi, XL Axiata employees through Majlis Taklim (MTXL) built a clean water facility in Makassar City, and a mosque in Maros Regency. Financing for both projects uses infaq, zakat and waqf funds from XL Axiata management and employees. Attending the inauguration were Group Head of People Service & Facility Management of XL Axiata Mr Ryyld Ipbtas Yusri, Chairman of Majelis Taklim XL Axiata, Yanuar Tirta Kumaya and local community leaders in Tallo Village, Makassar City.

Chairman of Majelis Taklim XL Axiata, Yanuar Tirta Kumaya said, "Alhamdulillah, the clean water facility and mosque have been completed for the benefit of the village and surrounding communities. It is a matter of pride for XL Axiata management and employees to be able to directly build public facilities that are urgently needed by the community in Makassar City and Maros Regency. Hopefully this clean water facility and mosque will bring benefits to Tallo Village community and its surroundings."

Yanuar added that this activity came from the infaq, zakat, and waqf funds of XL Axiata management and employees to help people in need. XL Axiata's employees and management are committed to continuously increasing their contribution to society as a form of concern through sustainable CSR programs. Now, XL Axiata proves its commitment, building clean water facilities and mosques in two locations in South Sulawesi. In 2023, XL Axiata through Majelis Taklim XL Axiata (MTXL) has built Kartini Soenantara Mosque in Central Sulawesi, renovated madrasah and bridges in West Kalimantan, and clean water facilities in North Sumatra and Central Java.

MTXL Axiata collaborated with Inisiatif Zakat Infonesia (IZI) for a clean water facility and mosque construction project. Clean water facilities in Tallo Village have long been expected by the local community since 1981. In this village, as many as 90 households or around 500 people have to struggle to get clean water for bathing, washing clothes and even just to relieve oneself. This area is a peripheral area close to the sea so getting fresh water is very difficult. The clean water facility built has a depth of up to 120m. Clean water from the borehole is piped to the houses of the residents. A total of about 90 water taps have been installed to residents' homes.

Meanwhile, the mosque built in Balang Aji Village, Maros Regency is named Jami Al Madinah Mosque and will benefit the community in 3 (three) hamlets. The three hamlets are Samanggi Baru which is in the lowlands, Balang Ajia Hamlet which is in the highlands and Sambung Eja Hamlet which is in a mountainous area. Jami Al Madinah Mosque has an area of 100 m2, which stands on an area of 225 m2. The facilities available at this mosque include loudspeakers, toilets, ablutions and prayer equipment such as carpets, sarongs and mukena.

Zakat, infaq and waqf as one of MTXL's routine programs is a means for XL Axiata employees to help overcome social problems in XL Axiata service areas, including building mosques and clean water facilities. On the same occasion, MTXL also distributed donations for orphans. MTXL Axiata strives to continue spreading kindness to establish friendship with various community groups and various regions. The clean water facility and mosque construction programs are in collaboration with a social welfare institution, Inisiatif Zakat Infonesia (IZI).
