XL Axiata Employees Distribute Emergency Aid to Banyuasin Fire Victims

Banyuasin, 8 April 2022. Employees of XL Axiata distributed aid to populations impacted by fires in Sungsang I Village, Banyuasin II District, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra, through Majlis Taklim XL Axiata (MTXL Axiata). The aid was uniform for the children who had been affected by the fire.

 

Hendra Salman, the XL Axiata Banyuasin area Territory Sales Manager, handed over direct support to Banyuasin II Camat, Salinan.S.Sos.MM, at the Sungsang I Fire Victim Handling Post on Thursday (7/4). Abdi Prihatin, GM Dealer XL BTI, and a number of local community leaders were present at the handover.

 

The head of MTXL Axiata, Yanuar Tirta Kumaya, said, “"Some of XL Axiata's employees have become part of the local community, both for work and for life. This aid is a manifestation of our concern to assist those who have been affected by the fires that hit the settlements of Sungsang I Village residents. We hope that the assistance provided would help the victims of the fire."

 

Yanuar added that this is one of the MTXL Axiata Disaster Response Program which aims to help Indonesian people who need assistance. The aid funds distributed by his party are from infaq funds which are routinely collected by XL Axiata employees every month and managed by the XL Axiata Ta'lim Council.

 

The Head of Banyuasin II Sub-district, Salinan.S.Sos.MM, said, ““We would like to thank the big family of XL Axiata and MTXL Axiata who have cared about providing assistance to our residents affected by the disaster. We will provide this aid to the residents as soon as possible today because they really need it."

 


The fire that hit residential areas in Sungsang I Village, Banyuasin II District, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra occurred on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at around 18.30 WIB, scorching around 26 houses inhabited by 41 families. Their homes and belongings had been destroyed by the fire. Some residents are now being evacuated to relatives' homes since they have been unable to rebuild their homes.
