Jakarta, 13 August 2023. A total of 200 school teams throughout Jabodetabek are vying for tickets to the Grand Final of the "AXIS Nation Cup 2023" Futsal Tournament. The preliminary round was held from 11-13 August 2023, in five regions namely Jakarta, Bogor, Bekasi, Tangerang and Serang. In each region, 40 high school teams competed.
Group Head of XL Axiata Region Jabodetabek, Rd. Sofia Purbayanti, said, "From at least 200 high school teams in Jabodetabek and Serang, there are 2,000 students involved. They are young talents who have high enthusiasm for achievement. Therefore, we, the management of XL Axiata, are also very enthusiastic to facilitate them to pursue their dreams, by organising the largest high school futsal tournament in Indonesia."
This futsal tournament applies a knockout system. The winner of preliminary phase in each city will return to represent their city in the regional phase. The winner of regional phase in each region will return to represent their region in Grand Final phase. A total of 10 teams will compete for the championship in Grand Final of AXIS Nation Cup 2023 which will take place at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, 15 October 2023.
As hosts, the winning teams in the five cities of Jabodetabek and Serang will advance directly to the grand final. They will also receive prizes for winning the preliminary rounds. For Jabodetabek plus Serang, the preliminary rounds were held in accordance with their respective regions, namely at GOR Tifosi for Jakarta, GOR Cisarua (Bogor), GOR Tambun (Bekasi), GOR Cipondoh (Tangerang) and GOR Maulana Yusuf (Serang).
Not only can they participate in the futsal tournament, each school also has the opportunity to participate in three other competitions to represent their school in this event, namely dance competition, supporter competition and OSIS competition. All participants from each school who have been selected as participants in these three competitions, will be selected and determined the best six teams from the three competitions. The winners of the dance competition, supporter competition and OSIS competition will receive millions of rupiah in prizes, trophies and certificates.
Nationwide, AXIS Nation Cup 2023 futsal tournament is participated by 1,200 schools from 30 cities across Indonesia. Winners of the tournament will receive a total prize pool of IDR 270 million. In addition to cash prizes, there is also a chance to join a camp program at a renowned football club for the top five players in the event.
