Share
XL Axiata Business Solution developed an IoT flood monitoring solution that will assist in real-time monitoring of river and pump conditions at 178 sluice points in DKI Jakarta.

Jakarta, 19 June 2022, PT XL Axiata Tbk contributed to the success of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government in winning the prestigious award at the 2022 World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) event. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government won the "ICT Application: e-Science" category for the use of IoT technology in flood monitoring systems at the event held in Switzerland at the end of May 2022. The IoT-based solution was built in collaboration with XL Axiata Business Solutions. The WSIS Prizes 2022 event is organized by The International Telecommunication Union. This year, the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta has the honor of representing Indonesia in this prestigious event.

XL Axiata's Chief Enterprise & SME Officer, Feby Sallyanto said, “Congratulations to the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and also Mr. Governor Anies Baswedan for winning this award in this very prestigious international event. It is a great honor for us to be a part of supporting the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government in the innovation of implementing a flood monitoring system. This success is also a proof for us that the IoT solution that we have developed has indeed received international recognition and has proven its application in helping to overcome the flood problem in Jakarta. This award is also an encouragement for us to continue to present IoT solutions that will be useful for our country.”

The IoT monitoring solution, also known as flood monitoring, is a radar sensor that monitors floods, measures water level, current speed, and the condition of water pumps, according to Feby. The data from these sensors will be sent and recorded in a data logger to be integrated before being processed and analyzed according to the specified parameters so that it can be used for faster decision making in flood disaster management. Closed-circuit television (CCTV) is also used to visually monitor conditions at the floodgates.

Feby added, currently XL Axiata Business Solutions is still developing flood monitoring solutions. The implementation process itself is divided into several stages. Currently, the IoT implementation phase, namely connected devices, has been carried out since 2021.

XL Axiata Business Solutions has also assisted a number of city/district governments in digitalization efforts in their respective regions for various agricultural, smart city/building and smart transportation projects. In the future, XL Axiata Business Solutions will continue to develop IoT solutions to make cities in Indonesia more digitized so that it can facilitate the lives of residents.
