XL Axiata Donates Laptops to Islamic Boarding Schools in West Java to Support Digital Village

Bandung, April 20, 2022. Management of PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) again held donation dozens of laptops to be distributed to Islamic boarding schools in Cimahi, West Java. The donation was conducted as part of the Digital Nusantara Village Program series to encourage digitalization, including increasing digital literacy, among rural communities. The selected Islamic boarding school as the recipient of the donation is expected to become a pioneer for digitalization and can improve the quality of human resources, especially in the Islamic Boarding School education sector. In addition, XL Axiata also conduct social actions to coincide with the Holy Month of Ramadan by distributing dozens of basic food packages to the Baitul Izzah Islamic Boarding School. XL Axiata Director & Chief of Commercial Office Home and Enterprise, Abhijit Navalekar along with XL Axiata Chief of Market officer, Yavuz Fatih symbolically handed over the laptop and basic food donations in Bandung, Tuesday (19/4).

  
"XL Axiata's 4G data network infrastructure continues to spread throughout Indonesia, with some of it reaching rural regions," stated Bambang Parikesit, XL Axiata's Central Region Group Head. Along with this, we want to be able to help encourage rural populations to become more digitally literate, as well as assist digitalization among Islamic boarding schools. Currently, XL Axiata is looking for Islamic boarding schools to accept digital literacy programs so that they can become digital economy Pioneers in remote areas."



According to Bambang, Islamic boarding schools and the community must adapt to the widespread adoption of digital technology in a variety of spheres, including the economic and social sectors, as well as public services. This program will be beneficial for rural community that is to increased digital literacy, since they will be able to use it to boost productivity and access to public services such as education, health, and social services. As part of XL Axiata's commitment to preparing rural areas for the digital era, laptops and XL Axiata internet access facilities were delivered to a variety of rural communities.

 


The donations were given away to Baitul Izzah Islamic Boarding School. The Islamic Boarding School is located in Pasir Kiara No. 4, Cipageran District, East Cimahi West Java. It has been in established since 1998. The Islamic Boarding School, which has been established since 1998, is located in Pasir Kiara Village, Cipageran Village, North Cimahi, West Java. There are at least around 550 students enrolled in this Islamic boarding school, managed by the Baitul Izzah Foundation. One of the village community empowerment programs carried out at this pesantren is the Al Barokah Cooperative, Amanah Islami Savings (TAMI). This cooperative aims to assist and educate the public in financial management in the hopes of preventing usury transactions.

 

XL Axiata also distributes routers and free internet connection of 20GB per month for a year to recipients of donations in addition to laptops. They will also be given advanced training in a variety of digital skills, such as how to use social media for product promotion, photography, and creating effective digital content. XL Axiata partnered with Benihbaik.com to distribute this donation last year.

 

 
XL Axiata has also donated more than 50 laptop computers to dozens of Islamic boarding schools across the country, including in Central Java, West Java, East Java, North Sumatra, Gorontalo, and East Nusa Tenggara. After Ramadan, Xl Axiata will continue widen the laptop donations to another Islamic boarding schools throughout Sumatera, Jawa, Kalimantan, Nusa Tenggara, Sulawesi and many more, as part of program of Digitilizing Indonesia Nusantara Program.



The Nusantara Sea application has been implemented for fishing villages in various provinces as part of XL Axiata's digital literacy enhancement program for rural areas. Moreover, numerous trainings on the use of digital technology have been conducted through the Sisternet initiative to boost the productivity of rural communities at USO network locations and fishing villages. Women in charge of MSMEs are also taught digital literacy. Meanwhile, XL Axiata's Quota Donation Movement gives internet and data connection to rural communities in need of assistance to boost productivity to support digitalization program.
  

 

Food Package Donation



The managers and staff of XL Axiata in the Palembang district of South Sumatra distributed 500 food parcels to Islamic Boarding School, Especially to Cihami West java. XL Axiata distributed 60 packages. the Safari Ramadan in moment. The distributed as part of XL Axiata's continuous cordial relationship with the people of Yogyakarta, to west Java overall.

Currently throughout West Java, XL Axiata operates network infrastructure in the form of a total of more than 31 thousand BTS, including more than 15 thousand 4G BTS, to support services for around 10.7 million subscribers. Especially for Greater Bandung which includes Bandung City, Cimahi, West Bandung Regency, to Bandung Regency, XL Axiata serves more than 2.3 million customers.
