Data Traffic Increases 76% in Banten XL Axiata Intensively Builds 4G Network up to the Remote Areas

Serang, August 2021 29th , PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) continues to support the government's vision of accelerating as well as equitably developing telecommunication and data network infrastructure throughout Indonesia. Especially in Banten Province, in the past year, XL Axiata has intensively built a 4G network, in the form of more than 630 4G BTS, to remote rural areas that were previously unreachable. This initiative is part of the implementation of XL Axiata's commitment to enter the age of 25 in an effort to Build a Digital Indonesia.

 

Region Group Head of XL Axiata Jabodetabek, Rd. Sofia Purbayanti said, “Data traffic throughout Banten has increased by 76% in the last two years. Therefore, we must continue to build a 4G network, both to improve the quality of service, as well as to expand to areas that are new and have great potential. Along with network development, we also continue to fiberize the network to increase capacity, so that customer convenience will also increase.”

 

According to Sofia, currently XL Axiata's 4G network throughout Banten Province has reached up to 154 districts and 918 villages in all cities and regencies, with a total of 4.5 million subscribers. To support services in all provinces on the western tip of Java Island, XL Axiata operates a total of more than 10,700 BTS, including more than 4,000 BTS of which are 4G BTS.

 

Throughout Banten, XL Axiata has the most BTS, including 4G network, in Tangerang Regency, which is a total of 2,300 BTS, including more than 1,100 4G BTS. For the Tangerang City area, services are supported by a total of around 1,800 BTS, including more than 800 4G BTS. For the City of South Tangerang, around 1,700 BTS operates, around 780 BTS of which are 4G.

 

For the Serang City area, XL Axiata has more than 800 BTS, with the number of 4G BTS reaching more than 300 BTS. While in Serang Regency there are more than 1,400 BTS, almost 500 BTS are 4G BTS. Then in Cilegon City operates more than 600 BTS, 200 BTS of which are 4G. Lebak Regency is served by around 850 BTS, of which 250 are 4G BTS. Pandeglang Regency gets XL Axiata service which is supported by around 1,000 BTS, including a 4G network in the form of 300 4G BTS.

 

In addition to focusing on building 4G network, XL Axiata also strengthens data services by expanding the construction of fiber optic network or fiberization whose paths extend to the BTS in remote areas of Banten. XL Axiata hopes that by connecting each BTS with fiber optic cable, it can further improve network quality and of course will automatically provide more convenience to data service users.

 

Fiberization in the Banten area has been successfully carried out on 650 BTS, or about 31% of the total BTS in the province. The number of BTS that will be connected to fiber optic networks throughout Banten Province will continue to grow considering the need to improve the quality of data services along with a significant increase in data traffic.

 

Meanwhile, related to the construction of the Tanjung Lesung Special Economic Zone (SEZ) as well as the tourism locations of Anyer beach, Carita Bay, and Sawarna Beach, XL Axiata is ready to support the development of telecommunications infrastructure and 4G networks. Currently, at the coastal tourism location in Banten, more than 130 4G BTS have been built, as well as expanding the fiber optic network.

To provide excellent service during the current pandemic, XL Axiata innovates to present an online XL Center that serves various customer needs, from changing SIM cards, reactivating card numbers, migrating from prepaid to priority numbers, to activating priority numbers. That way, customers don't need to leave the house and visit XL Center physical outlets to take care of these needs. This online service has been able to be used by customers since April 2020 with service developments that are continuously being carried out until now.

 

To be able to take advantage of the XL Center online service, customers can access the website: www.xl.co.id/xlcenter, then enter the XL Center Online service, input the XL number registration that corresponds to the E-KTP and KK numbers, input personal data such as: address, frequently dialed numbers, and the last package used. Even though there are online services, as one of the essential sectors, during the current “PPKM Darurat” period, XL Center outlets are also still operating to serve customers who directly come physically while still implementing strict health protocols. The XL Center operates every Monday – Friday (8am – 5pm) and Saturday (8am – 1pm).

 

As part of the Banten community, XL Axiata has also supported the distribution of data quotas for Distance Learning services since last year. In addition, XL Axiata plays an active role in ensuring that communication services and distribution of fast-response assistances in the event of natural disasters, including floods and landslides, earthquakes and tsunami waves that hit several areas in Banten Province.
