JAKARTA, NOVEMBER 18, 2024 – The SMK Medika Samarinda team won the men’s title, while SMAN 2 Mojokerto claimed the women’s title at the largest futsal tournament for high schools in Indonesia, the AXIS Nation Cup 2024. In the men’s final, SMK Medika Samarinda faced SMK Jakarta Barat 1 in a thrilling match that ended in a draw and was decided by a penalty shootout. Meanwhile, in the women’s final, SMAN 2 Mojokerto defeated SMAN 4 Jakarta with the result 3-1 (11/16) at the Indonesia Arena in Jakarta. Indonesia’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Dito Ariotedjo, Yessie D. Yosetya, Director & Chief Enterprise Business and Corporate Affairs Officer of XL Axiata, alongside all the XL Axiata management presented the trophies and prizes to the winners in a glorious celebration.
Yessie D. Yosetya said, “The AXIS Nation Cup 2024 has just ended, and we are grateful and thankful for the incredible enthusiasm and participation from futsal teams across Indonesia. This tournament is one of XL Axiata’s initiatives to support the government in developing Indonesia’s future generation through sports.”
Over 19,000 visitors attended the event in person, while 3.3 million people watched it online. This demonstrates XL Axiata's commitment to be present among the youth, offering ease, great experiences, and innovation that matches their needs with #JadiLebihBaik.
This is also in line with what was mentioned by Indonesia's Minister of Youth and Sports, Dito Ariotedjo, during his visit to attend and present the trophies and prizes to the winners of the AXIS Nation Cup 2024 and he said, "First, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to AXIS for organizing the AXIS Nation Cup 2024 for the second year, involving high schools and vocational school (SMA/SMK) across Indonesia. This year, the tournament also included women’s futsal, which was not part of last year's event. Today, the grand final is being held at the Indonesia Arena. The Indonesia Arena has become a symbol of hope for young athletes from all over Indonesia in various sports, such as basketball, volleyball, futsal, badminton, and others, as it provides them with the opportunity to compete here."
Minister Dito added, “This tournament comes at a very good time, especially as our futsal team recently won the ASEAN Cup and is now ranked 24th. A big thank you to AXIS, and I hope that in the future, AXIS can also organize prestigious tournaments in other sports to discover more talented athletes in various sports.”

The Grand Final of the 2024 AXIS Nation Cup was livened up by musical performances from The Changcuters, Oom Leo ft. El Rumi, Dipha Barus feat. Aneka Dansa (Iwa K, Monica Karina, Faye Risakotta, Barakatak, and Raye Andre Pila), and Vira Thalisa and the Gentleman (Teza Sumendra, Basboi, Adikara, Bilal Indrajaya, and Nikita Dompas). There was also a fun match between influencers Evan Soumilena and Eca Japasal against Sabrina Dressler and Bondol JPG.
Involving more than 1,650 schools and over 16,500 athletes from cities across Indonesia, the 2024 AXIS Nation Cup received wide attention, especially from young audiences. More than 200,000 visitors attended the preliminary rounds in 40 cities, including Serang, Tangerang, Bogor, Bekasi, Jakarta, Sukabumi, Depok, Bandung, Cianjur, Cirebon, Yogyakarta, Purwokerto, Semarang, Tasikmalaya, Sumedang, Tegal, Denpasar, Surabaya, Kupang, Malang, Mataram, Aceh, Medan, Tebing Tinggi, Palembang, Padang, Jambi, Pekanbaru, Lampung, Batam, Pontianak, Balikpapan, Samarinda, Banjarmasin, Palangkaraya, Manado, Gorontalo, Palu, Kendari, and Makassar.
The Grand Final of the AXIS Nation Cup 2024 was open for free to a wide range of audiences. Visitors could also enjoy various booths with exciting activities, such as an e-Sports competition to test online sports gaming skills at the AXIS CUP booth, as well as food trucks offering meals before entering the indoor area. Attendees and supporters also had the chance to win a variety of attractive prizes from AXIS.
