4G Network Expansion in South Sulawesi Ready to Serve Big Industries

XL Axiata’s 4G LTE service in East  Luwu is supported by around 60 4G BTS, the newest of which is located in Sorowako village, Nuha district. Last weekend, XL Axiata officially launched 4G service in Sorowako that can be used by local residents and industry players, including Vale Indonesia, one of the biggest nickel miners in the world. 

 

East Luwu, 6 August 2019. PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) keeps improving the quality of its data service in all areas, including Sulawesi. Not only for individual customers, but also industry players that continue growing like in the South Sulawesi. To address market challenge in the province, XL Axiata keeps expanding its 4G LTE network to cover, among others, East Luwu regency which has several big mining companies. 

XL Axiata South Sulawesi Head of Sales Mozes Haryanto Baottong said, “The expansion of the 4G network in South Sulawesi is in line with the company’s policy to focus on expanding high quality data network outside Java. The expansion to East Luwu Timur is very strategic as the regency has a big economic potential and will need high quality data service to develop it. Moreover, the regency now has a major mining company operating in the area.”

Mozes said XL Axiata’s 4G LTE service in East  Luwu is supported by around 60 4G BTS, the newest of which is located in Sorowako village, Nuha district. Last weekend, XL Axiata officially launched 4G service in Sorowako that can be used by local residents and industry players, including Vale Indonesia, one of the biggest nickel miners in the world. 

Mozes Haryanto added that South Sulawesi is one of the target areas for expansion and data service quality improvement. As the result, as of July 2019, all 24 cities/regencies in the province, including East Luwu, can now enjoy XL Axiata’s data network, both 3G and 4G. Around 3,000 BTS including more than 1,100 4G BTS support data service in South Sulawesi Selatan.

By the end of June 2019, XL Axiata had around 930,000 customers in South Sulawesi, of which 910,000 were active data customers. Mozes is confident that the number of data customers will continue increasing as its 4G network keeps expanding. One of the positive impacts of the presence of XL Axiata’s data network in the province is data traffic increase, not only in tourist destinations, but also in urban and rural areas. This shows that local people have grown increasingly aware of the use of data service to support daily activities.

In line with the vision of the government of Indonesia, the data infrastructure development is also part of XL Axiata’s support for the acceleration of development in the eastern part of Indonesia. In Sulawesi, XL Axiata’s data network is now available in 63 cities/regencies, with the support of around 5,000 BTS. XL Axiata’s 4G network has entered 52 cities/regencies, with the support of around 1,800 BTS.  

XL Axiata’s Flagship Programs and Products
 
Apart from high quality data network, XL Axiata aso provides programs and products to accommodate the needs of customers in Sulawesi. Its services include starter packs and vouchers for Xtra Combo Lite package.
 
Both are XL’s mainstay products that offer 4.5GB to 37GB of data, and additional benefit of “Double Lokal Kuota“ from 1.5GB to 18GB for customers in Sulawesi that can be used in all networks. The benefits can increase customer experience in data usage. If the number is used outside the region, the additional quota will not apply, but the regular quota is applicable nationwide.
 
Furthermore, XL Axiata also pampers people of Sulawesi with AXIS products. One of the most favorite products among the youths is AXIS OWSEM, an Internet package that offers main quota, night quota (for browsing at 00.00-06.00 AM) and social media package (to access Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and TikTok). There is also music quota (to access JOOX and Smule). The most popular package among AXIS customers is Unlimited Gaming that can be used to access games AoV, Free Fire, Vain Glory, Mobile Legends, Asphalt 9, Modern Combat 5 and HAGO.
