Through “Bersama Bangun Negeri” XL Axiata Employees Donate Educational Funds Throughout The East Nusa Tenggara

Atambua, Oktober 1st, 2020. Through the “XL Axiata Bersama Bangun Negeri” (Berbagi) program, employees of PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) have once again distributed educational donations to various parts of the country. One of them was distributed to a school in East Nusa Tenggara. Donations were distributed to SMA Negeri Lurasik, Boronubaen Village, North Biboki District, North Central Timor Regency, and the Regina Angelorum Tenubot Orphanage, Atambua, Belu Regency. Present at the social activity which took place on Thursday (1/10) included the Head of Sales for the East Nusa Tenggara area, Arief Indra, and the Territory Sales Manager for XL Axiata in the Atambua area, Andi Baharuddin. 

Chief Human Capital Officer of XL Axiata, Rudy Afandi said. “Working in a technology-based company, the average XL Axiata employee possesses the knowledge, understanding, and expertise in the field of digital technology that can be shared with students because it is highly beneficial for them. These examples are acted on how to take advantage of social media positively, how to use the internet to support their achievements, how to make good photos with ordinary smartphones, and many more. That’s why we’ve been holding the Berbagi program throughout the year.”

According to Rudy, this annual routine program is carried out in various regions in Indonesia is a form of concern from XL Axiata’s employees for the advancement of the world of education. Through this program, employees have the opportunity to be actively involved in transferring their knowledge and expertise. Even during a pandemic, XL Axiata is still trying to implement this social program with a number of adjustments to health protocols. The pandemic emphasizes how XL Axiata’s employees need to find alternative ways so that this program could still be run, considering the benefits it could provide to students in the targeted schools. 

Alongside with that, XL Axiata East Region Group Head, Bambang Parikesit, who leads the work area in the East Indonesia area, said that East Nusa Tenggara Province is one of the regions with fairly high growth in data usage. The people of NTT, including young people and students, have a great enthusiasm to be able to take advantage of the internet and digital services. For this reason, XL Axiata also often holds events aimed at facilitating the younger generation to channel their interest in digital technology.
 
“Events like this are really needed in NTT, where the youth, including school students, are also enthusiastic for digital-tech related knowledge that can be put to good use. We hope that the knowledge shared by XL Axiata employees will awaken students to make more use of digital means positively and productively, while at the same time avoiding negative impacts,” continues Bambang.

Due to the pandemic, there are activities that cannot be done in person, such as the educational exchange regarding various skills needed by students. The materials that will be given to SMA Negeri Lurasik students are related to a number of skills or expertise needed by students in the digital era that will be of use to them today or in the future. For this reason, this agenda is carried out online with video conference facilities. Some of the materials that will be provided by XL Axiata employees include public speaking, healthy internet, easy ways to create a website, how to make good photo content on social media, and the internet of things (IoT).
 
In addition to knowledge materials, other activities include handing over donations of laptop facilities and clean water facilities to SMA Negeri Lurasik. These laptops can be used by students and teachers to assist them during the learning and teaching activities. The clean water facility can be used by schools or the local community. There were 200 internet packages distributed to students and teachers. Each SIM card is equipped with a quota of 30GB which they can use for two months. Meanwhile, routers are given a free quota of 20GB every month for a  year.

A total cash donation of 3 million IDR was given to the Regina Angelorum Tenubot Foundation, an orphan house in Atambua that accommodates 30 children. This donation came from corporate social programs.

XL Axiata’s 4G data network has been present in East Nusa Tenggara Province since 2018 and is now present in 22 cities/districts. Co-currently, XL Axiata’s network infrastructure in East Nusa Tenggara is supported by more than 1,200 BTS, including more than 900 BTS that supports both 3G and 4G networks. XL Axiata also has more than 50 USO BTS in the province, including in Kab. Alor, Kab. Ende, Kab. Kupang, Kab. Lembata, Kab. Malacca, Kab. East Manggarai, Kab. Sabu Raijua, Kab. Central Sumba.
