Sidoarjo, 4 February 2023. PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) has specially prepared telecommunication and data networks to support the smooth running of the agenda for the grand celebration of the 1st Century Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) which will be held at Delta Sidoarjo Stadium, Tuesday 7 February 2023. This grand celebration is planned to be attended by millions of Nahdliyin residents from all over Indonesia, XL Axiata has prepared sufficient network capacity in Sidoarjo Regency and its surroundings. The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo is scheduled to be present at the grand celebration of the 1st Century of NU which is centered at the Sidoarjo Delta Stadium.
XL Axiata East Region Regional Group Head, Dodik Ariyanto, said, "XL Axiata has prepared sufficient network capacity to strengthen the quality of data services around the implementation site, including by upgrading BTS capacity at several points in Sidoarjo Regency, including the District of Wonoayu, Prambon, Gedangan, Waru, Sedati, Sidoarjo, and Magersari. To ensure the quality of service, our technical team will be on standby throughout the event. In addition, our support is one of the manifestations of XL Axiata's commitment to accelerate Nahdliyin citizens entering the digital world. Moreover, this grand celebration is a moment that all Nahdliyin members from all over Indonesia have been waiting for.”
According to Dodik, XL Axiata has also strengthened the network and prepared Mobile BTS (MBTS) around the area where the event is taking place. There are several 4G BTS directly covering the location of the 1st Century NU grand celebration. XL Axiata hopes that the network strengthening that has been carried out can support the smooth running of the event and meet customer needs at the event location and its surroundings.
In East Java, XL Axiata has a 4G network infrastructure that has reached 666 districts and 38 cities/regencies, with a total of more than 11 thousand 4G BTS. There are more than 5.5 million subscribers, of which 99% are 4G subscribers. Every year there is a significant increase in data service traffic. Throughout 2022, there was an increase in data traffic of up to 73%.
XL Axiata Support to Welcome Digital Era for the Students and the Islamic Boarding Schools
XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) has distributed dozens of laptop units to Islamic boarding schools in several areas in Indonesia. This donation is part of the Digital Nusantara Village (Desa Digital Nusantara) Program held by XL Axiata to encourage digitization in rural areas. Islamic boarding schools that receive donations are expected to be the driving force for the intended digitization, while at the same time improving the quality of human resources among Islamic boarding schools. 39 Islamic boarding schools in 29 cities/regencies and 7 provinces have received donations which have been distributed since April 2022.
XL Axiata also launched the Digital Islamic Boarding School (Digital Pesantren) program in early 2023. Through this program students will receive digital training, especially creating content and designing websites. This new program was first implemented in the East Java area and will then be implemented in other provinces. The Digital Islamic Boarding School Program is a form of XL Axiata's commitment to participate in the success of government programs in equity and increasing students' digital literacy towards the Society 5.0 era. A total of 147 students took part in this training. They come from 122 Islamic boarding schools spread across East Java.
