Yogyakarta, 4 April 2023. PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata)'s data network throughout the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) and Central Java is ready to face traffic spikes ahead of exodus and the long Eid ul-Fitr holiday period. XL Axiata's total 4G network in DIY has reached more than 420 rural/urban villages, 7 districts, and 5 cities/regencies, while in Central Java it has reached more than 7,900 rural/urban villages, 547 districts, and 35 cities/regencies. Of the total approximately 1.1 million data subscribers in DIY, 91% are data subscribers. Meanwhile, data subscribers in Central Java have reached 93% of a total of around 6.4 million subscribers. Data traffic growth in the last two years has reached 51% for DIY, and 65% for Central Java.

Acting Group Head of XL Axiata for DIY and Central Java, Arif Farhan Budiyanto, said, "Just like in previous years, we expect the demand for data services to increase rapidly. This happens almost evenly in all cities and regencies spread across DIY and Central Java provinces. In addition to increasing capacity, we also optimise the network by looking at the mobility patterns of customers and the public during the Eid ul-Fitr holiday period which is not far away. We have also ensured the availability of selected superior products in all distribution channels, especially in credits shops that are easily accessible to the public."

Arif added, routinely, the company continues to improve service quality in all cities and regencies spread across these two provinces. XL Axiata estimates, as in previous years, a significant increase in traffic will occur in several regencies such as Kebumen, with an estimated increase of 61%, Purworejo 58%, Pemalang 54%, Gunung Kidul 44%, Kulon Progo 34% and Bantul 21%. To ensure the network's ability to accommodate traffic surges, XL Axiata has prepared a number of strategic steps, including through additional capacity compared to normal days, up to the application of new technology.

XL Axiata also adjusts to trends in the use of types of services, especially data services, exodus traditions, and customer movements during the long Eid ul-Fitr holidays. In addition, the completion of the construction of new toll road infrastructure connecting several sections in DIY and Central Java is also a concern for the company.

By the end of December 2022, there are more than 15,500 BTS in total across DIY and Central Java, with the majority being 4G BTS. New network construction and fiberization will continue throughout 2023 and the years ahead. In the last two years, XL Axiata's 4G BTS additions in DIY and Central Java have continued to be intensive, including additions spread among others in Bantul with 235 BTS, Gunung Kidul with more than 170 BTS, Kulon Progo with 160 BTS, Semarang City with 650 BTS, Banyumas with more than 450 BTS and Grobogan with 385 BTS. These additions are certainly adjusted to the high data demand that continues to increase in the regions.

Some points that are expected to experience an increase in data service usage traffic during the Eid ul-Fitr holidays are Yogyakarta, Semarang, Surakarta Cities, Tawangmangu, the area around Borobudur, Prambanan Temples, beaches in Gunung Kidul, Parangtritis Beach, Dieng plateau, Guci hot spring tourism in Tegal, and Batu Raden tourist area in Banyumas.

For crowd centres, as usual there will be an increase in worship centres such as grand mosques, shopping centres, town squares, bus terminals, train stations, airports, up to along non-toll and toll arterial roads that connect areas in Central Java and other major provinces.

XL Axiata customers will use a variety of data services, especially social media to share content. Customers will also access more streaming services for video, music and games, which require large capacity. Streaming services include Youtube, Vidio and Spotify. Meanwhile, the messaging application is Whatsapp.
