The migration process of UMB *123# began on 1 February 2023. Starting 1 April 2023, XL Axiata customers can only access information via UMB *808#. This migration is based on Ministerial Regulation (PM Kominfo) No. 5 of 2021 which regulates that USSD access for customer services uses USSD *8XY#.

Jakarta, 2 February 2023. PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) has changed the USSD Menu Browser (UMB) access for customer services from *123# to *808#. This UMB change is effective from 1 February 2023. Dissemination continues to be carried out by XL Axiata during the transition period 1 February - 1 April 2023 through various means of communication to customers because UMB users are still quite large. This migration is based on Ministerial Regulation (PM Kominfo) No. 5 of 2021 which regulates that USSD access for customer services uses USSD *8XY#.

Chief Marketing Officer of XL Axiata, Alfons Eric Bosch Sansa said, "XL Axiata always complies with applicable regulations, including those related to the use of USSD. This migration is only limited to changing the UMB code, there are no other changes in the menus. So it's just a move from *123# to *808#. Our dissemination efforts are carried out thoroughly to all relevant stakeholders, especially customers, through various communication channels, including social media."

According to Alfons, UMB *123# has been used by customers to check credit balance, package quota or purchase XL Axiata products and services. Currently, although product purchases and credit checks are also available in myXL and AXISnet applications, it turns out that there are still quite a number of customers who continue to use the UMB. Therefore, until now UMB is still provided and starting 1 February 2023 UMB *808# will be used.

In addition to UMB *808#, XL Axiata provides alternative customer services that are more easily accessible through applications, namely myXL for XL Prepaid and PRIORITAS customers, and AXISnet for AXIS customers. Both applications can be downloaded through Playstore or App Store.

USSD or Unstructured Supplementary Service Data is a special protocol used for short communications from the user's mobile phone to the operator's service provider. USSD services are generally used by users to request or pull certain information to operators in a predetermined format. Over the past few years, XL Axiata customers have been able to access a number of service information, including products, credit purchases, and checking credit or data quota usage via UMB *123#. As of 1 February 2023, this service will be transferred to UMB *808#.
