XL Axiata Extends Support to Flood and Mount Marapi Eruption Victims, Distributed Donations to Residents

Pekanbaru, 16 February 2024. PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) distributed donations to people affected by floods in Riau Province, South Sumatra, and the eruption of Mount Marapi in West Sumatra. Donations provided are basic daily necessities such as rice, eggs, sugar, cooking oil, packaged fish, bottled water, medicines, and other essentials to different areas. The donations were given to locals in Enok District and Tanah Merah District, Indragiri Hilir Regency, Riau Province, Saturday (10/02). It took the XL Axiata team about 4 hours to reach the location.

 

The XL Axiata team also delivered aid to Ulu Rawas District, Rawa Ulu District, Karang Jaya District, Rupit District, Karang Dapo District, Rawas Ilir District, North Musi Rawas District, South Sumatra Province, on Sunday (28/01), and to victims of the Mount Merapi eruption in Canduang District, Sungai Pua District, Ampek Angkek District, and Malalak District, Agam Regency, West Sumatra Province, on Tuesday (30/01).

 

XL Axiata West Region Group Head, Desy Sari Dewi expressed, "This aid is a form of our commitment to help the Indonesians, especially in Indragiri Hilir Regency, Riau and North Musi Rawas Regency, South Sumatra which were affected by floods, as well as those impacted by the Mount Marapi eruption in Agam Regency, West Sumatra. We are concerned about the flood and the eruption of Mount Marapi condition. This donation is also a manifestation of XL Axiata's concern to ease the burden faced by the affected communities. Regarding the network, overall the XL Axiata’s network in the disaster area remains operational, thanks to preparedness measures such as generators and network engineering."

 

Desy added that XL Axiata is working with BenihBaik.com to distribute and ensure the donations reach their intended recipients, namely flood victims in Indragiri Hilir Regency, Riau and North Musi Rawas Regency, South Sumatra, as well as the eruption of Mount Marapi in Agam Regency, West Sumatra. Throughout the crisis, customer services remained unaffected as XL Axiata’s network team fortified and optimized communications infrastructure near the affected areas, facilitating uninterrupted communication for people. In moments of emergency like this, maintaining operational telecommunications and data services is paramount, serving as the primary communication lifeline for communities, victims, and disaster response personnel.

 

 

XL Axiata employees distributed aid to flood-affected individuals in Riau

 

PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) employees, through the XL Axiata Ta'lim Council (MTXL), recently provided urgent assistance to residents impacted by flooding in Rengat District, Indragiri Hulu Regency, and Kemang District, Pelalawan Regency, Riau Province. Territory Sales XL Axiata representative in the Indragiri Hilir area, Raja Mirsal Fahlepi, directly delivered the donation to local community representatives.

 

This relief effort is part of the MTXL Disaster Response Program, aiming to help Indonesians in need. It reflects XL Axiata employees' dedication for easing the burden faced by disasters-stricken communities. Given XL Axiata’s longstanding presence in Riau, it is imperative for the company to extend assistance to residents.

 

The emergency aid provided by XL Axiata employees consisted of essential items such as rice, packaged fish, soy sauce, tea, instant noodles, cooking oil, coffee, and eggs. Donations were given to seventy families in two sub-districts. All funds gathered through the MTXL Disaster Response Program from XL Axiata employees and management, and were distributed directly through various social initiatives benefiting Indonesians nationwide.
