Banjarmasin, January 16th, 2021. PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) ensures that currently services remain normal in most areas in three regencies hit by the flood in South Kalimantan. XL Axiata team strives to maintain the quality of telecommunication and data networks in disaster-affected areas, both by ensuring the operation of infrastructure and by network engineering. In addition, XL Axiata has also started distributing emergency assistance to residents who have become victims.

Group Head Central Region of XL Axiata, Rd. Sofia Purbayanti said, “We continue to monitor network condition at a number of points that have not fully recovered, including for XL Home services. Until now, there are still 74 BTS that are constrained by electricity, whose locations are scattered in the flooded areas. Currently, the XL Axiata technical team has also been in the field to monitor the condition and emergency needs such as generators and additional fuel for BTS infrastructure. "

Some of the areas with severe flood condition in South Kalimantan are in Tapin Regency, Banjarbaru City, Hulu Sungai Tengah Regency, Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency, and Balangan Regency. Around the disaster area, XL Axiata has more than 2,300 BTS (2G / 3G / 4G). Sofia stated that they would try hard to maintain the service so that it could continue to operate even in difficult conditions due to the high rainfall and the closed access to the BTS locations which are not operated.

Meanwhile, at the disaster site, the XL Axiata team also began distributing emergency assistance to residents who were victims. Emergency response assistance was delivered directly at several points, namely Bati-bati District, Tanah Laut Regency, Pangaron District, Banjar Regency, Barabai District, Hulu Sungai Tengah Regency, Alalak District, Barito Kuala Regency, and Banjarmasin City on Saturday (16/01). Emergency assistances from XL Axiata are in the form of foodstuffs, medicines and clean water. XL Home also provides a Charging Post and free Wi-Fi that can be used by the public in Graha Mahatama, South Banjarmasin District, Banjarmasin City. For the distribution,  the XL Axiata team collaborated with local officials to ensure that the distribution process reached residents in need.

The XL Axiata team also monitors the condition of the community in disaster-prone areas around Kalimantan area, in order to prepare emergency assistance if needed at any time. XL Axiata's management also pays more attention to disaster management, and has even collaborated with relevant officials, including the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) and the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) in a number of areas.
