Winning Schools Brings Home Millions As Prize Money From The "Serunya Budayaku” Video Competition by AXIS

Jakarta, July 1st, 2020. AXIS is back again with “AXIS Serunya Budayaku”, a video competition created for Indonesian students. In this event, there were 526 creations made and submitted by 250 schools that was managed to be narrowed down to four winning high schools, respectively, SMK TI Bali Global Badung - Bali, SMK Negeri 1 Sungailiat - Bangka Belitung, SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Sukabumi - West Java, and SMK Negeri 1 Klaten - East Java. All four schools brought home the prize money of Rp. 50 million.


Head of XL Axiata's Youth Marketing Communication, Randu Zulmi stated, “We’re delighted to see the enthusiasm of participants in this competition. Almost all of them are creative and visibly capable of utilizing digital technology while also channeling it to create and post positive content. This convinced XL Axiata to hold this competition through AXIS, to help create opportunities for those who can hone their skills and creativity to elevate their knowledge and the local culture of their region as tourism assets.”


Held throughout September to November of last year (2019), four best creations were chosen to be the leading champions, along with 20 favourite video creations. Alongside SMK TI Bali Global, the other winners include; SMK Negeri 1 Klaten, with “Respatining Klaten” (, “Pencak Silat dan Seni Musik Sunda” from ( SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Sukabumi, West Java, and “Warisan - Tari Sambut( from SMK Negeri 1 Sungailiat, Bangka Belitung. At first, the grand prize of Rp. 50 million was to be in the form of a performing arts festival for the four schools, however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the prize money was then converted into the form of scholarship funds and school facilities, as requested by the committees of the winning schools. Although, a festival exclusively for SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Sukabumi, West Java, had been held in February 2020. Aside from the grand prize, XL Axiata also gifted Rp. 5 million in consultation funds along with a vlogging camera for each winning participant chosen as creators of the Top 20 favourite videos.


Submissions for the “AXIS Serunya Budayaku” video competition were from schools in all parts of Indonesia. From schools in Medan, Pekanbaru, Palembang, Padang, Bandar Lampung, to schools within the Greater Jakarta Area (Jabodetabek) and bigger cities and regions, such as Bandung, Indramayu, Semarang to Yogjakarta. There were also submissions from Surabaya, Jember, Denpasar, Mataram, and Makassar. The even distribution of participants in this competition reflects the strength of AXIS and XL Axiata’s reach and data network quality.
