Jakarta, 26 May 2023. PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) ensures that its 4G network in North Jakarta is in prime condition and ready to welcome the electric formula car racing event, 3-4 June 2023 in Jakarta. For the grand event of the world electric car racing series, XL Axiata has prepared at least 20 units of 4G BTS to cover the entire race area in the Ancol area, including the circuit and surrounding supporting areas, which include hotels, restaurants, beaches and various other tourism supports.

Acting Group Head Technology Strategy & Assurance of XL Axiata, Tetra Siti Sarah, said, "As in previous years, we are again committed to participating in supporting the electric formula car racing event, by providing adequate 4G and 5G networks as needed. The potential for traffic surges at this event is very large considering that the electric car racing event is one of the racing events that is quite popular with the Indonesian people at large, not to mention the potential presence of spectators from abroad. As more people come to the area, the demand for quality telecommunications and data networks will certainly increase."

Tetra added, based on traffic data during last year's electric formula car racing event, XL Axiata recorded a surge in data traffic reaching 8.9 terabytes or an increase of around 136% from normal data traffic, specifically in the circuit area. This year's event is predicted to increase about 2 times from normal days, given the popularity of this electric formula car racing event in Indonesia.

In addition to aggressively improving the quality of 4G networks in the surrounding area, XL Axiata also provides 5G networks around the circuit area by utilising Dynamics Spectrum Sharing (DSS) technology as many as 3 BTS, and one mobile BTS out of a total of 20 BTS to anticipate traffic surges during the world-level electric formula car racing event.

"We have increased our network capacity around Ancol by 1.4 times in anticipation of traffic surges during race days. With the high enthusiasm of the public as well as the publication and news about electric formula car racing that has been quite extensive and vigorous so far, visitors to Ancol can be booming and will certainly drive an increase in traffic. We are anticipating all the possibilities that can happen so that on the day of the race there will be no significant obstacles and the race can also run smoothly," Tetra explained.

Specifically in North Jakarta, the area where the electric formula car racing event is held, XL Axiata has more than 1,800 BTS, with more than 1,000 of them 4G BTS. Meanwhile, for the entire DKI Jakarta area, XL Axiata operates more than 10,000 BTS, including more than 6,100 4G BTS.
