Jakarta, August 18th , 2021. PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) continues to prepare for the commercialization of 5G services in Indonesia after passing the Operational Feasibility Test (ULO). Currently, XL Axiata is preparing to hold showcases in four cities starting August 18, 2021. At this event, customers can try first-hand a number of the sophistication of XL Axiata's 5G service. The four cities are Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, and Surabaya, and the showcase took place at the XL Center of each city. In addition to the XL Center which is located in these 4 cities, the XL Axiata 5G network is also available in the Depok City area (partly Depok Margonda Street) and in the Gedung Sate area of Bandung City for outdoor 5G limited mobility. This activity is part of the implementation of XL Axiata's commitment to enter the age of 25 years in an effort to Build a Digital Indonesia.
XL Axiata President Director & CEO, Dian Siswarini said, "This showcase is part of our means to disseminate 5G services to the wider community, especially XL Axiata customers. This is also one of the stages of our preparation to roll out 5G services commercially and massively later. Of these four cities, of course, we will continue to expand it to other cities gradually.”
At each showcase location, customers who already have smartphones that support 5G XL can try out 5G XL services directly from customer handsets, for other customers who do not have supporting 5G devices can experience 5G XL through various 5G service demos that are displayed, as well as education related to 5G from customer care representative of XL. For demos at the XL Center at XL Axiata Tower Jakarta, customers can try virtual reality headsets, 4K video streaming and cloud gaming. At XL Center Martadinata Bandung, customers can try 4K video streaming and cloud gaming demos.
Meanwhile, customers in Yogyakarta and surrounding areas can try cloud gaming demos and 4K video streaming at the XL Center Yogyakarta, which is located on Jl. Laksda Adisucipto No. 163, Demangan Baru, Caturtunggal, Kec. Depok, Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta 55281. At XL Center Surabaya, Jl. Pemuda No.94/98, Embong Kaliasin, Kec. Genteng, SBY City, East Java 60271, customers can try the cloud gaming demo and 4K video streaming.
Previously, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics of the Republic of Indonesia (Kominfo) stated that PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) passed the Operational Feasibility Test (ULO) to deploy 5G networks in Indonesia. The 5G ULO pass was stated in the Operational Eligibility Certificate (SKLO) received by XL Axiata management on Thursday (12/8).
XL Axiata will accelerate the preparation of the required ecosystem, including the provision of adequate infrastructure, among others through network fiberization in all operating areas, collaborating with device providers in providing 5G smartphone devices so that customers and the public can easily get them, providing the human resources up to education to increase the public understanding of the benefits of 5G technology to support everyday life.
