Jakarta, 14 September 2023. A total of 160 school teams in the Kalimantan area are vying for ticket to the Grand Final of "AXIS Nation Cup 2023" Futsal Tournament. The preliminary round was held 8-10 September 2023, in four regions namely Balikpapan, Samarinda, Pontianak and Banjarmasin. In each region, 40 high school teams competed.
Acting. Group Head of XL Axiata Kalimantan Area, Horas Lubis, said, "From at least 160 high school teams in Kalimantan area, there are 1,600 students involved. They are young talents who have high enthusiasm for achievement. Therefore, we, the management of XL Axiata, are also very enthusiastic to facilitate them to pursue their dreams, by holding the largest high school futsal tournament in Indonesia."
This futsal tournament applies a knockout system. The winner of the preliminary phase in each city will return to represent their city in the regional phase. The winner of the regional phase in each region will return to represent their region in the Grand Final phase. A total of 10 teams will compete for the championship in the Grand Final of AXIS Nation Cup 2023 which will take place at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, 15 October 2023.
For the Kalimantan area, the preliminary rounds were held in accordance with their respective regions, namely at GOR Sepinggan Pratama Futsal (Balikpapan), GOR Kadrie Oening Sempaja (Samarinda), GOR AJC Futsal Perumnas 4 (Pontianak), and GOR Hasanudin (Banjarmasin). The winning teams in the four cities in Kalimantan area will compete in Kalimantan regional round which will take place in Banjarmasin on 16 September 2023. The winner of this regional round will represent Kalimantan area to compete in the AXIS Nation Cup Grand Final in Jakarta against finalists from other cities.
Not only can they participate in the futsal tournament, each school also has the opportunity to participate in three other competitions to represent their school in this event, namely dance competition, supporter competition and student council competition. All participants from each school who have been selected as participants in these three competitions, will be selected and determined the best six teams from the three competitions. The winners of the dance competition, supporter competition and student council competition will receive millions of rupiah in prizes, trophies and certificates.
Nationally, AXIS Nation Cup 2023 futsal tournament is participated by 1,200 schools from 30 cities across Indonesia. The winners of the tournament will receive a total prize pool of IDR 270 million. In addition to the cash prizes, there is also an opportunity to join a camp program at a renowned football club for the top five players in the event.
